poll everywhere
Http://www.polleverywhere.comis an amazing FREE online voting application for collecting and displaying live responses from an audience.  For those schools that don’t have access to an interactive response system (ActiVote or similar tools) this is a fantastic cost-efficient resource as many individuals in the audience probably own a cell phone that can be used as the tool to vote!   People vote anonymously by simply sending a text message using a SMS phone (standard text message rates apply), or by voting online via a computer to a pre-created question or prompt (i.e. poll).   Those using Smartphones such as BlackBerries, iPhones, and Windows Mobile devices can bypass SMS text messaging fees by responding through their smartphone web browser to http://poll4.com.  Polls can either be created in a multiple choice or open-ended format.  Typically, results for the polls are shown with 2-5 seconds of sending the message.  The results are presented in a graphical format and can easily be extracted into a spreadsheet or downloaded into PowerPoint.  The free plan offers a maximum of 30 participants per question/poll. By utilizing the free plan teachers and administrators can use the service multiple times throughout the day(s) by simply downloading and clearning the results in order to reuse the poll with a different class/audience.  This could process could be completed an unlimited number of times per day.  NOTE:  While anyone can setup a free account by creating a username & password, Poll Everywhere expanded services are available free of charge for schools who have not made Adequate Yearly Progress. School-wide accounts can be setup for all teachers.  To setup this type of account please send an e-mail to questions@polleverywhere.com.
