WHAT IS IT?
One of the hottest new technology tools on the shelf this season is the Pulse SmartPen from Livescribe. It’s a computer and a functional pen together all-in-one! This pen records and links audio to what you write on special digital paper. HOW DOES IT WORK?
The Pulse pen has an IR camera at the tip of the pen that takes 72 pictures/second and tracks all your movements when writing. 2 internal noise-canceling microphones within the pen can record sound within a regular sized classroom. When the headset is attached to the pen, specialized 3D recordings can be acquired as each earbud contains a built in microphone that allows for high quality 3D sound to be captured from far away. The pen has a bright OLED display for navigating the menu and has a built in speaker to hear any recording audio (can also use the earbuds). The Livescribe dot paper includes millions of microdots on the surface which allows the Pulse pen to know which page you are writing on and the exact location on that page. The smartpen can see these dots through the ink written on the pages.
